Having a normal and healthy scalp is something we take for granted.  Sometimes out of nowhere our scalp can become dry, itchy and even have a burning sensation that causes our scalp to feel parched and our hair feeling the same way.  Dry itchy scalp is caused by a number of things – the cold weather, the hot weather, poor health and nutrition, stress, everyday shampoos, hair dyes and so the list goes on.

Most of us want to know why suddenly we are suffering with dry itchy scalp.  Waking up to this frustrating and annoying condition we cannot understand just why our once healthy scalp has been cruelly inflicted.

Each individual will have their own reason why they are suffering from a dry itchy scalp.  You may have changed your shampoo recently and that may be causing the problem.  Next time you buy your shampoo have a look at the label on the back that lists all the ingredients.  Do you recognize any of them and do you have any idea what they actually are?  Take Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) for example.

This ingredient is commonly found in engine degreaser!  It is common after a heavy downfall of rain to see foam on the roads, especially after a dry period.  This foam is from SLS which is found in the engine degreaser which is found in a lot of shampoos.  This SLS can cause more sensitive scalps to become dry and itchy so if you want to detox your scalp it is a good idea to change your shampoo to something natural.  Oh, don’t be fooled by a lot of those shampoos that use natural in their advertising, turn the bottle around and read the label.

There may be a small percentage of a natural ingredient in there but the bet is most of it is just made up of chemical volumisers i.e. ingredients that are just there to fool us into thinking we are getting a lot more than we pay for.  Consumers are suckers for believing if we get a big bottle of shampoo then this is better than a smaller though more potent bottle of natural ingredients.
